GITEX Global is one of the largest technology exhibitions in the world, and for companies exhibiting in Dubai each October (this time in December), the pressure to stand out is real. Your exhibition stand is often the first physical impression a prospect has of your brand — and in a hall full of hundreds of competitors, the difference between a forgettable booth and a stand that draws a crowd comes down to who built it and how well they planned it.
If you’re exhibiting at GITEX 2026 and haven’t locked in your exhibition stand contractor yet, here’s what you need to know.
Start earlier than you think
Most exhibitors underestimate how long a quality exhibition stand takes to design and build. For a custom stand at GITEX, the realistic timeline works backwards from the event date:
- 6 months out — Brief your stand builder, agree on concept and budget
- 4 months out — Designs finalised and approved
- 2 months out — Build materials ordered, fabrication begins
- 3–4 weeks out — Stand completed, logistics to venue confirmed
- On-site — Installation at Dubai World Trade Centre, typically 2–3 days before the event opens
If you’re reading this and GITEX is less than three months away, you’re not too late — but you need to move quickly. Shell scheme stands (the basic modular booths provided by the organiser) can be dressed and branded on a shorter timeline. Custom space-only builds need more lead time.
Shell scheme vs. space only — what’s the difference?
At GITEX, exhibitors typically choose between two stand types:
Shell scheme — A pre-built modular structure provided by the official GITEX contractor. You get walls, carpet, a fascia board with your company name, and basic lighting. You can brand it with graphics, add furniture, and customise it to a point. It’s the more affordable option and works well for smaller spaces (9–18 sqm).
Space only — You book a bare floor space and bring in your own contractor to design and build from scratch. This gives you complete creative freedom — custom structures, unusual shapes, multi-level builds, LED walls, interactive elements. It’s the right choice if brand presence and foot traffic are priorities. At DWTC, space-only contractors need to be registered with the venue and hold the appropriate UAE trade licence and insurance.
What to look for in an exhibition stand builder
Not all stand builders are the same. When evaluating contractors for GITEX 2026, ask these questions:
Have they worked at DWTC before? Dubai World Trade Centre has specific rules around contractors, logistics, and on-site installation. A builder who knows the venue avoids costly surprises. Although the Venue is changed this Year to Dubai Exhibition Center at Expo Dubai however, it is also managed by DWTC.
Can they handle end-to-end delivery? The best stand builders don’t just fabricate — they manage the full process: design, production, logistics, on-site build, and breakdown. You want one point of contact, not four separate vendors.
Do they have a portfolio of comparable projects? Ask to see stands they’ve built at similar scale to yours. Client names matter — a builder who has delivered for Sharp, Honeywell, or Oracle understands corporate brand standards.
What’s included in the quote? Get clarity on what’s in scope: graphics printing, furniture, AV, lighting, storage, electrical connections, and on-site supervision. Hidden costs at the installation stage are a common source of friction.
What happens if something goes wrong on-site? Exhibition installations rarely go perfectly. Your stand builder needs experienced on-site crew who can problem-solve in the moment, not a project manager who’s unreachable after 6pm.
Budgeting for your GITEX stand
Exhibition stand costs vary significantly based on size, materials, and complexity. As a rough guide for Dubai:
- Shell scheme dressing (graphics, furniture, minor customisation): AED 5,000–15,000
- Custom modular stand (9–18 sqm, reusable): AED 20,000–50,000
- Custom space-only build (36 sqm+, bespoke design): AED 60,000–150,000+
These are indicative ranges. The right builder will give you a detailed quote based on your brief, stand size, and specifications.
